Maia is getting more and more into pretending these days. She likes to dress up in the tutu that her great grandma gave her for her birthday and the play silk that her grandma sent for Christmas (usually tied around her neck like a cape or around her waist).I'd love to expand her dress-up wardrobe and make some capes and costumes for her. It's been a while since I've done much sewing and this seems like a good project.
Here are some fun ideas from the blogs I read...
As usual, Soule Mama provides wonderful inspiration for creativity. Here, she shows the dress-up suitcase her family gave to a small friend.
I'd love to make some of these puppets on sticks that I found over on Montessori by Hand. She makes them with papier mache over cardboard and gives instructions on her blog. So pretty!
Maia loves her playsilk, and they seem so versatile that I'd like to get more, but they're expensive. I think I'll follow these instructions by Kirsten*Can for dying your own playsilks with Kool-Aid.
Any other ideas for encouraging imagination, dressing up, and playing pretend?
