Just what you want to read about on a children's art blog, right? I realize compost doesn't get everyone as excited as it does me, but it's not every day that I get such a fancy new 3-bin compost system! Harry made this for me for my birthday and I love, love, love it. But then I'm hooked on gardening. Good compost makes good soil and good soil makes a good garden. I'm still a newbie at all this so here's me trying to ramp up my composting and gardening another notch.
The front boards are removable which will make it much easier to use the finished compost than it was from our other bin. And with three bins, it'll be a lot easier to turn the compost when needed and to just plain make more.
Here are the plans for the bin, in case any of you are inspired to make one for yourself (or cajole a significant other to do it for you). You can also add a lid, which we might do at some point.
By the way, if you're in the area and into gardening, remember the herb festival this weekend at the farmer's market. I've been the last couple years and they always have lots of everything -- herbs, flowers, fruit bushes/trees, and vegetable starts. Definitely worth the trip and the crowds.
